It's a my honor and a great pleasure to announce that a soundscape derived from my Sounding Crisis research project was invited to frame the national conference Environmental Humanities. Enabling Sustainable Futures taking place at the University of Copenhagen (DK) on Friday, April 19, 2024. This conference is a cooperation of Syddansk Universitet in Odense, Roskilde Universitet, Copenhagen Business School, Aalborg Universitet, Københavns Universitet and Aarhus Universitet.

The soundscape begins with recordings of seemingly peaceful nature. Underneath, however, the sonification of climate data becomes increasingly louder, making a global temperature rise of 2 degrees Celsius audible and signaling irreversible tipping points. This acoustic tension culminates in a collage that combines sonic expressions of human endeavours to live in harmony with nature, despair and anger over its destruction, and the resistance of climate activists with protest chants as well as songs of mourning and lamentation. By bearing witness to the articulations of the traumatic experience of climate change, the collage ends in a cathartic way that opens the space for a radical renewal. Altogether, the soundscape is 30 minutes long and consists of recordings of nature, the noises civilization and climate catastrophes as well as the sound practices of Indigenous and Non-Indigenous activists and artists adressing the human nature relationship in times of climate change in Denmark, Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland) and Australia.
Three of the core elements of the soundscape were recorded at Agerupgård on the Danish island of Samsø in April 2024, at the sound installation Twenty Springs - Listening to Climate Data by the Sono Choreographic Collective in October 2023 as well as at the performance of the lament of A Chorus of Women at Parliament House in Canberra (AUS) on March 21, 2023.
